23hrs... more like 36

Well I've made it...finally. Wichita to Atlanta, Atlanta to Dubai, Dubai to Chennai, Chennai to Vellore. Got picked up by a guy at the airport who didn't speak english and just handed me a cellphone to talk to someone who did. Experienced my first Indian taxi ride dodging tractors, cows, dogs, cars, buses, road construction - without respect for lanes, pavement, or a particular side of the road. And even though I knew to expect extremes of poverty and wealth I was still unprepared at how accepting everyone is of the contradictions. Not much has happened so far with my rotations yet as they begin on monday... as of today I still haven't talked with anyone from the school. I guess tomorrow will be the magic day. The other med student has arrived, but I haven't caught up with her yet here at the Modale Hostel on the campus. So far it's been pretty relaxing and I owe much of that to the students that are here now - they've been great at showing me around and not letting me starve! Today we all went to the pool... one more example of the contradictions- outside trash lined streets grazed by goats and cows, on the inside it could have been a luxury resort. Still trying to get rid of jet lag, slowly but surely. All in all, not a bad start to the rotation.

Setup

This is my first attempt at blogging and i'll try to keep it going as I travel to India on my international rotation to Vellore, and then as I travel back through Europe to fly home from London just in time for Match. Bare with me as I stumble my way through this process ;->
